Everything I miss about English Class
This show gives me everything I miss about taking english classes - the insights, the hidden jokes, the historical context - without any homework. I've been listening so long, that when I attended a talk Heather gave, it was like seeing an old friend. I recommend this show all the time.
Thankful!
I am so thankful that I stumbled across this podcast. It gives me the opportunity to blend my passions. How very enjoyable the dialogue and discussion.
excellent podcast
love the background on both the story and the author. love the feel of the podcast- like an open discussion for the sake of learning. like the crafting talk, and LOVE her voice. great content, great voice, great everything!
You can't help but LOVE this
Great podcast. Heather is my long lost GF :) She makes me want to JUMP out of the box. I am even going to try ZenTangling; my son is too, even though he doesn't know it yet...baawwwwwaaaaaa. Love the books, ok maybe not the last one so much, but you can't help but listening. Wish my kids teachers were as good as Heather.
One of my favorites
I feel as though Heather Ordover were a personal friend by now. I love the combination of craft news and literary discussion, as well as the sense of community which this podcast has developed. As Heather reminds us, CraftLit listeners are just better (and so is the podcast itself).
The only way to "read" classics
CraftLit is amazing. Heather is amazing. It is difficult to know where to start—just know that this podcast is a real treasure. The show notes that accompany each episode are astonishing in their detail and care. Heather's voice is beautiful and her thoughts on the books are so insightful. I know I would never have enjoyed "The Age of Innocence" this much without her to escort me through the story. It's like having a best friend on my arm, discreetly whispering in my ear, explaining the nuances I so often miss in social interactions. I love it, and hope she continues this for years to come.
A great way to enjoy "the classics"
I have been listening for years. I really appreciate Heather's insight and enthusiasm for the books. I learn so much. Thank you for your hard work. I support you by buying your books. I look forward to my vacation so I can read Grounded!
actually enjoying those books
What I like about this podcast is the ample amount of explanation to enhance my understanding, and thus my enjoyment, of each episode. This is especially helpful with books that are many decades old- arcane language or literary references would otherwise get lost. Like my own personal annotated reference, but better, because Heather knows what's actually helpful to know to "get" the material. Some of these have been books that made me roll my eyes, remembering my less-than-interesting high school encounters with them. (like Jane Eyre) And even though I knit little, I do enjoy the crafty chatter.
It's like being a kid again, but better
Remember when your teacher used to turn off the lights and read a chapter book to the whole class. It's kinda like that, except it's not Charlotte's Web it's Jane Eyre. And you get some insight from a thoughtful and passionate teacher. Oh and you don't have to put your head down if you don't want to. You can knit or paint or make jewelry or cook dinner. I look forward to these podcasts every week. Keep up the good work, Mama O.
An all-time favorite podcast
Craftlit has been one of my first-to-catch-up-on podcasts for many years now. Heather Ordover's voice is calm and soothing but backed with an audible grin much of the the time. She's one of those people whom I would feel is a friend if I saw her in person for the first time and probably really freak her out :) I really appreciate the fantastic readers she's found for many of the books covered in the podcasts.
Craftlit- excellent podcast
I have been listening for several years - a very well done podcast, I want to say professional, but its much warmer than that. Heather obviously loves literature, and loves teaching, and she conveys information in a collaborative, can't-wait-to share-this-with-you kind of style.
A great way to read the classics
I love this podcast!!! Some of the books I have read often on my own, but I have listened to the entire series, and there are many books i have never read, or would have put down without Heather's insights into the story to help pull me into the narrative. Thanks Heather for a wonderful podcast, you are witty, charming, and I love the life and crafting stories as well. And you have recommended many yarns and patterns over the years that have also made their way into my life. Thanks, and keep up the great podcast!!!
Favorite
I finally listened to a book from beginning to end (Jane Eyre) & loved every minute of it. Heather is very professional & her narrators are wonderful. I will now keep listening.
Best of Both Worlds - Knitting and Lit
I love these pod casts! I started with Jane Eyre and just fell in love with this format! Great listen while knitting!
Mama O is Amazing
If you love literature and you also love to keep your hands busy with craftiness (especially if you into knitting) this is the podcast for you. And the newest followers are the luckiest because they have plenty of books to catch up on while waiting for the latest chapter of the current book. I anxiously await each podcast. And I always feel smarter afterward. ;)
Fabulous podcast for lovers of literature
Heather's unique ability to add context to the literature she chooses is a fabulous addition to the stories. She obviously puts a lot of work into researching each story for which I am truly grateful (to borrow one of her favorite phrases!) I am learning a lot from this former English Teacher. The chosen books range from old favorites to those "I should have read this but somehow made it through high school and college without doing so" books. I also enjoy hearing what's up in Heather's life with her crafts, the boys and her other activities.
Love it!
Thanks so much for taking the time to make books accessible to knitters who love books! I've just found you and have begun DRACULA. Your choice of voice for the book is perfect. I'm a happy new subscriber! :-)
Wonderful!
Heather has a lovely voice, interesting stories, and great insight on the books!

I have learned sooo much through this podcast. I was an English major in college, and I wish I could have had profs like Heather. She not only knows her literature, but she knits. A perfect combo!
Simply the best!
I heard about this podcast from Amy Singer at her workshop and became immediately hooked!! Meeting Heather on the Tour confirmed what I already knew...... That Heather is the best!
Excellent Podcast
I have jumped around listening to blocks of episodes of Craft Lit and enjoyed every one. Heather is interesting, knowledgeable, insightful and thoughtful. Her discussion at the beginning of each podcast has a variety of topics and thoughts and I appreciate the variety. I'm glad Heather shares about her family and life - I think of her as a friend even though we have never met.
Awesome!
I love Heather's podcast. Great flow and she chooses great topics.
