Listener Reviews

SUCH greatness!
Great books, well read, broken into segments and interspersed with crafty and general life story goodness. Perfection.
Wonderful!
Heather could read a phone book and you would enjoy it and learn something!
Lovin this podcast
I've been listening to this podcast for over two years and have absolutely loved it. Heather has an incredible voice, a great knowledge base, and the professionalism to put these together in one great podcast. If you love books or keep making resolutions to read more, then start here with this podcast because you won't be disappointed.
Even if you are just learning about this podcast...
Start from the beginning! It's never too late. A few months ago, I started listening from the beginning and I don't regret the effort. Heather does a great job of explaining the context of the story (I'm listening to A Tale of Two Cities right now) and I've found it very, very helpful. Her insight as an educator is delightful, and she mixes it with a nice dose of what's going on in her life... With every podcast, we are able to listen to two stories - the one that's being read, and the story of her personal achievements and joys.
Craft Lit
Having reached a time in my life where it feels like reading is a waste of my creative/making time - Craft Lit has saved the day. I love to read but can't justify the loss of time. What a great Podcast. Thanks Heather
Craftlit
This is one of the most unusual podcasts to which I have listened, and I love it for that reason! Heather Ordover is so entertaining and teaches so well. I wish that I could have had her as a teacher when I was in school...she makes it so interesting. She is so eclectic in her interests and style, that it makes me want to learn to knit, write a novel, and many of the other things that she does. You go, girl!!! :)
Wonderful Podcast
Craftlit is like a virtual reading group for crafters. I feel like I am sitting in a room full of friends when I listen to Craftlit. Heather has a lovely speaking voice and talks about all kinds of interesting topics of interest to women. I look forward to each episode.
Fabulous Discovery
What a happy day when this podcast was found! I have started at the beginning of the podcasts with Pride and Prejudice. Heather begins with a few comments and crafty ideas, then a review of the previous chapters, followed by the reading of couple of chapters of the book. Heather has a pleasant voice and calm demeanor. Listening to classic books for the first time or reviewing ones from high school and college days is going to be a delight.
Excellent, superb, fantastic podcast!
If I could give this more stars, I would! Heather puts out a great show with an excellent portion about her knitting, family, and life...and then there's the books! I love listening to the classics and this is the best way. It's like you're in a super fun class with an enthusiastic professor, the class you can't wait to go to. I have a good grasp on literature, but it's wonderful to have a teacher's perspective and the discussion and interpretation that goes along with the books. Even if you've already read all the books, it's like reading them for the first time with all the insight and thought put into each one. The sound quality is superb and Heather's voice is so soothing and easy to listen to. I only subscribed to this a couple weeks ago, but it's the only one I want to listen to! Great work, Heather!
CraftLit
I love CraftLit! I have been completely addicted to listening to audiobooks for years, and this is a way to combine my love of knitting and books. Heather does a great job of moderating the books and offering insights into the old classics at the same time. I eagerly await each episode.
Classic lit like you never remembered it!!
This is a fantastic podcast. For all of you who never read classis lit (or did and didn't like it!), Heather will change that. I can't wait until the next episode!
What a Great Idea!
I am so glad I stumbled across this podcast. It's so great to hear these stories while I work.
Heather, you are wonderful!
Please don't take the INSULTING critique of the one 3-star review to heart. What does this person want FOR FREE (hellooooo???) I actually think the production value of this podcast is EXCELLENT. There is really only one word for what Heather does and all she gives her loyal audience: Precious.I am so behind on my chapters, but I am regular and faithful. I love Heather's updates. I love hearing what's going on in her corner, and I especially love the background she gives on the books. There are many gaps in my education and reading the classics is one of them. I feel like now that I am an "adult" and can appreciate them, a new universe is opening up to me. And there's the thing: I don't even knit and have no plans to learn. The podcasts are great to listen to when I am drawing or painting, on my walks, or at the acupuncturist (rather than her "woo woo" music when I am getting my treatments). They really do fill a need and serve a huge role in my life. I hope Heather doesn't change a thing!
Love this podcast!
This podcast combines 2 of my loves, knitting and literature. Heather has an excellent teaching voice and I'm mesmerized by what she has to say.
Wonderful!!!
This is hands down my favorite podcast! Heather is so smart and interesting, not only do I love what she has to say about the fabulous novels we read, but also what she shares with us about her crafting and family life. She also seems to be very careful about bringing us the best sound quality in a podcast. I've never had sound quality issues, as I've had with other podcasts. I honestly can not think of one thing I would change about this podcast and truly look forward to each new episode. Thank you so much Heather for continuing to bring us such a wonderful podcast.
One Of My Favorites
It is a tribute to Heather that she has made me a fan of books that I thought I did not like. This podcast provides a good argument for why the classics are still relevant. With a gentle touch she brings out the complexity of each novel and gives me something to think about. Her opening chat is always enjoyable as she provides a welcome window into her world.
Love this podcast!
Thank you so much for the great podcasts. I have so enjoyed not only the beginning chat, but look forward every week to the next installment of classic literature.
#1 podcast ever!!
This podcast has a great selection of readings and talks about everything from knitting, spinning, dying, painting and literature. She's a teacher with alot of experience and she has a great sense of humor.
i love CraftLit
CraftLit is one of my favorite podcasts. There is never a bad time to listen, Heather Ordovers voice fits all moods. She is thoughtful, funny, concise, gives good knitting information AND gives great information on the literature read. I have never had an english teacher make me read a book (??), so this is a nice introduction to that. I am over 30, but to have her clue me in on the stories really helps - and makes me enjoy them more! She glues me into them. Great great great.
Altogether Wonderful.
First off, let me say that I've never written an online review simply because I've never really felt compelled to. I've listened to good podcasts, but haven't written about them.THIS is different! I absolutely adore this program! Heather Ordover is exquisite. She has a lovely voice, is intelligent, entertaining, and I enjoy listening to her thoughts on craft and literature. I also thoroughly enjoy listening to the chapters or stories in each episode (taken from classic literature.) It truly is great to be able to listen while I sew or knit.
Love it!
I only just recently found craftlit, but i'm in love. The books, the commentary on the books, the crafting, and the life stories are absolutely delightful. It's going to be a joy to have this download every week, and the days will feel long inbetween each episode. Thanks for doing this, Heather! You are a treat to listen to!!
Truly great podcast
Heather Ordover is extremely intelligent, witty, and she has an excellent voice for podcasting (both in the metaphoric sense and in the literal sense). I look forward to these podcasts more than almost any other. This is worth a listen - I actually am contemplating buying a bigger ipod so that I can keep all of these episodes for future listening pleasure (some of the stories are worth a second and third listen, in my humble opinion).
I LOVE THIS PODCAST!!
Heather had the most fabulous idea here! If you love books and/or crafting then this is the podcast for you. I work at the type of job where I can listen while I work so I like to listen to podcasts. Once I stumbled upon this podcast by way of the Stars Hollow Podcast which led to An Old Fashioned Girl podcast which led me here....Whoa. Long story short, I'm addicted and I'm sure if you check it out you will be too. Heather's great and she has so much knowledge to share with the world! I'm glad that she has a podcast to do that with.
LOVE this podcast!
I started at the beginning because I adore Mr. Darcy & had to hear P&P again. I am not a knitter but after listening to so many episodes I have been bitten by the knitting bug! I like everything about this podcast - especially Heather's voice!
